Why do I need to wear an Aftercare Retainer?

The aftercare retainer may look just like the aligners, but it is made to keep your teeth in place instead of moving them. Without it, your teeth will most likely start reverting back to their original position.

How often should I wear the retainer?

There is no set standard, but our dental team recommends wearing the retainer all the time for at least 4 months, for the best retention of your smile. After that, you may taper off to wearing it only at night for a few months, and then you can even go down to a few nights per week.

If at any point the retainer feels too tight, your teeth are trying to relapse, and you should start wearing the retainer more often again.

Each person’s teeth are different, and some are more determined to relapse than others, but it is equally important for everyone to wear their retainers all the time for at least four months, and take your time tapering off more and more. Your teeth need time to get used to their new position.

How Many Times Should I Replace the Retainer?

Everyone is different. Your teeth may stop trying to relapse after a year or so, or you may need to wear the retainer indefinitely, at which point you may wish to speak to a dentist about fixed retention.

The first set of aftercare retainers is included with your aligners, and any additional sets are only $79 each.

Remember to wear your retainer. We love our customers, but we do not want you to have to visit us again—except, of course, if you are replacing your retainer or ordering more whitening products.
